All current members must audition for a spot on next year's team in order to maintain membership in the program. Veteran members will learn routine "A" designed to test mastery while new members will learn routine "B" which is designed for testing newcomers potential.

Auditions will be held in the

Grade Requirements:
Any member wishing to join the program should maintain the mandatory 2.0 cumulative G.P.A.
Report cards from the third nine weeks will be the documents used to determine eligibility.
Any student with less than a 2.0 cumulative G.P.A. will NOT be eligible to audition for the team. Students with any individual grades at the "D" or "F" level will be put on progress reports immediately to closely monitor those classes.  Students are cautioned that probationary periods do exist but only for
(1) nine weeks.

What to wear:
NO JEANS!
Shorts or sweats are appropriate
Shirts must cover midriff
Supportive undergarments

Dance clothes are encouraged

Hair is pulled back and off your face!
-buns and ponytails are fine
-no hats, scarves or wigs

Expenses:
As is the case with most co-curricular and after school activities, there are expenses associated with becoming a member. Each member will be responsible for meeting these expenses according to established fundraising guidelines. Any expenses not covered through fundraising will have to be met out of pocket.

Having sponsorships in advance is highly suggested!!!

Summer Rehearsals:
All members selected should plan on participating in the summer training program.  This DOES include veteran members. Summer sessions will be conducted twice weekly throughout the bulk of the summer.  Summer school attendance and family vacations are excusable ONLY if arranged in advance.  Anyone required to miss numerous summer rehearsals due to family commitments will need to coordinate personal rehearsal times with Mr. McKaig before leaving for the summer.

Attendance at the annual summer band camp immediatly prior to returning to school in (TBA) is also required of all members. Family vacation is NOT an acceptable reason for missing band camp. Plan accordingly!!

Seventh Period Class:
Members are MANDATED to take the 7th period colorguard class during the regular school day.
Any person that is unable to take the 7th period colorguard class will be dismissed from the program.
The only exception to this rule is those I.B. students that are meeting critical 6th area courses necessary for graduation from the I.B. program.
Students who can meet certain course requirements over the summer are encouraged to do so in order to more effectively schedule commitments in the fall.

After School Rehearsals:
All students selected into the SCHS colorguard program are expected to attend two weekly rehearsals outside of the normal school day.  Historically, one of these has been Tuesday nights and the other has been Wednesday afternoons.  There is no reason, at this time, to anticipate that this will be any different next year.
Excessive absences will result in the dismissal of the member from both the program and the class.  Dismissal from the class will require schedule change and loss of grade for that grading period.

Second Semester:
Second semester participation will require events from all program members.  In addition, there will be venues of performance open to all colorguard members who remain in good standing throughout the fall marching season. In order to remain in the class 7th period, members must participate in the winter/indoor program.  Otherwise, the student will be expected to transfer out of the 7th period class.
